“I wouldn’t ever switch back to glasses”
At Insight Optometrists, we’re proud to be able to offer Ortho-K therapy, for clients with myopia (short sightedness). It’s a revolutionary treatment involving contact lenses worn only at night while you sleep, gently re-shaping your cornea to correct your vision. You can go about your day without wearing glasses or contacts, and Ortho-K can actually prevent your condition from getting worse.
Our very own staff member Bec is trying Ortho-K for herself and is delighted with the results. Though she admits to mixed feelings before getting started.
“After hearing about all the buzz and seeing the great results in some of our patients, I was very excited to try Ortho-K lenses. Despite all the positive feedback, I was a little apprehensive the very first time I tried them on. However, now that I’ve been wearing them for around 6 months, I wouldn’t ever switch back to glasses,” she says.
Bec says she loves seeing clearly throughout the whole day without glasses or contacts.
“It’s really great to be able to do things like go fishing, swimming and play sport without the worry of needing to wear glasses or contact lenses, but still have such great vision! A bonus is knowing that the Ortho-K is helping to prevent my prescription from getting worse.”
Ortho-K lenses are a little different to regular contacts but Bec says she hasn’t had trouble adjusting.
“The feeling of wearing the lenses does take some time to get used to, but as they are worn while sleeping with eyes closed, comfort is actually not an issue,” she says.
“It’s also great to have Daniel following my progress throughout the whole process as he helps to walk me through each step of the experience in a way that’s reassuring and easy to understand.”
Of course, all our patients get the same treatment as Bec- we take you step by step through the process with regular checks on your progress. We’re excited about the chance to help you live your days free of glasses and contact lenses. To see if Ortho-K could help you like it’s helped Bec, contact us to make an appointment.
